The Ambassador of Uzbekistan is accredited to the UN Tourism

At the headquarters of the UN Tourism, the Secretary General of the organization Zurab Pololikashvili was presented with credentials on the accreditation of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Spain Farrukh Tursunov as the Permanent Representative of our country to the UN Tourism, reports a correspondent of «Dunyo» information agency.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of further cooperation between Uzbekistan and the organization.


UN Tourism Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili expressed great gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for organizing and holding at the highest level the 25th session of the General Assembly of the organization, which was held in Samarkand in October 2023.


Special attention was paid to the initiatives of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward during the session. Zurab Pololikashvili emphasized that Uzbekistan is the most active member of the organization, and the UN Tourism does not implement so many projects with any member state. The UN General Assembly's adoption of a resolution initiated by Uzbekistan to declare 2027 the International Year of Sustainable and Resilient Tourism deserves high praise.


Following the meeting, UN Tourism Secretary General expressed hope for the successful implementation of the resolution and active participation of all member states in the implementation of activities to promote sustainable and resilient tourism.


It should be noted that Farrukh Tursunov arrived in Madrid as Ambassador of Uzbekistan on December 6, 2023 and presented copies of his credentials to the Spanish Foreign Ministry on December 12.
